Located in a character area of Brisbane on a small land parcel of just 265sqm, the design for this 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house integrates a central courtyard which seeks to balance the built form with the landscape.
The design draws inspiration from the local context of the surrounding suburb as well as the client's Scandinavian heritage and the craftsmanship that can be observed in Scandinavian design.
It has been a pleasure to work with the owners, who are excited for construction to commence in December 2020.
Given the budget constraints for this project, we proposed a simple, lightweight structure and materials for the house.
One of the successes of the project has been the design of the raking ceiling with the exposed rafters to the living area. The clients love the spacious feel of a space full of natural light.
Construction is due to finish in the next few months.
